The life of silence and solitude, I have come to practice this for almost two months now and it is working for me. Don’t get me wrong it is not a vow I took and don’t wear a black habit and I’m not a monk. It is more of having time to myself in total silence and solitude, where I can have deep reflection, meditation and prayer. I know this may sound weird for most of you guys especially to those who have low tolerance with spirituality and religion, but I tell you, this will and can help you in many ways.
Look how peaceful and tranquil are the lives of those who took it as a vow and left everything behind them for the greater goal, what if we just take a piece of it and see what peace and tranquility it can bring to us? All of us can do this even just for 5 minutes of our time when we are not doing anything important we can always turn off our computers, i-pod and televisions to pause in silence and a moment with God then you will find peace. Most often than not we neglect ourselves with the essential of life which is FAITH, HOPE and LOVE, the noise of the world is telling a different story and realization about these three essentials of life that most of us have come to embrace.
With my personal journey in this calling, I have come to realize and have discovered many things which I will share with you on the next entries I will post here. There are answers that can enlighten our heart and soul and can refresh the hope we have in us and self realization and reflection is playing big part in this calling/challenge. It is not ourselves who is talking when we are alone and in silence, someone up there is talking to us and making us realize and understand many things which most of time we cannot comprehend for we keep on resisting it.
“Once you push through the initial discomfort and challenge of solitude you’ll find that it will bring the wonderful refreshment of God’s peace, “that transcends all understanding” and “will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).”
Also there’s a calling for us to speak and proclaim the goodness we have obtained from our silent prayer and moment with God so that many will be blessed and inspired with your experience. One must not keep to himself the truth but must know to preach the truth so others may follow. For there is only one truth and that is HE!
“As much as it’s good to be able to hold your tongue it’s also important to be able to speak the truth in love to people (Ephesians 4:15).”
This world has been growing weary and has lost its sense of truth for we allow it to happen. We never stood to what is true and good but we let the lies be part of our system and made us feel less of a man. We have been looking for answers to this noisy and chaotic world but the answers we are looking for are just within us. We just need to shut up and be still for us to realize and know the truth and good in us and let Him speak to you so may see and hear!
So I invite you to make a difference, why not shut the hell up and be alone for a moment, let see what will happen? Let see what will you learn about yourself? Will you be able to keep up with the challenge of Silence and Solitude?
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God” – Psalm 46:10
